Why should medical testing on Chimpanzees continue? There are currently alternatives available to animal testing yet we cling to the old. The old methods of medical testing are tried but not true in many cases. Although mankind is very similar to the Chimpanzee, there are still differences. These differences can make the difference of a cure verses worse problems. Animal testing is not perfect and it causes so much suffering. How can we condone Medical Testing on Chimpanzees on any scale? Please click here to see more.
After the animal testing phase is done and everything is in order, the human trials begin. Peoples’ desperation is played upon in many cases. They want a cure so bad. Of course wouldn’t you? Are they shown the studies? Are they giving a realistic presentation of the risks they are facing by doing the trial? They don’t even know if they are the ones getting the medication. This is done to avoid the mental and emotional effect of the testing. Have scientists ever thought of the mental and emotional stress of not knowing? How does that affect the results? What about paid trials? Is it assumed they are willing to take high risks to earn some money?
The bottom line is no testing is 100% conclusive. What’s worse is the results can be manipulated in favor of the desired outcome. While the ultimate goal is to cure devastating diseases, often the drive is to become famous or win some prize and not to save a fellow human. That is not to say that all researchers are unethical. Many are driven to cure a loved one or to find a cure so others do not have to go through what their loved one went through. Noble thoughts for sure, but are they thinking of what the test animals go through? They are capable of feeling pain at the least.
America is one of only 2 countries still doing this type of testing. So much for progress in the USA! How can we as a “trend setting society” be ok with medical testing on chimpanzees. They are so compassionate. To betray them is a crime beyond reason. Take a look at the pictures in this article, click on the link above, share on twitter, facebook etc., then post a comment below. P.S. NEWS UPDATE April 24, 2013 — Great news for chimpanzees provided Information provided by Huffington Post
The US, faced with a public outcry over its position as the only nation in the industrialised world that continues to conduct invasive experiments on chimpanzees, is cutting funding for the experiments and considering the Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act. This historic bill would end the use of chimpanzees in experiments and retire all chimpanzees imprisoned by the state to sanctuaries.
